Now that you’ve got your New Year’s Eve dress, shoes, and jewelry all settled (hopefully), you’re probably trying to decide how to finish off your look for the big night. As you think about how to style yourself, here are some quick tips to help you waltz into the New Year with all eyes on you for all the right reasons.
Odds are you’re going to encounter a huge crowd of people wherever you go on New Year’s Eve. Lots of people = HOT! As much fun as being in the thick of things can be, they can also get super sweaty. Consider putting your hair in a slicked back ponytail a la Kim Kardashian for a sexy, polished look. (Wrap a piece of hair around the band to make it a style instead of just a ponytail.) If you’re going for more of a bombshell, seductress motif, embrace your inner T-Swift and pin up your hair at the nape of your neck. Both of these styles will keep your hair out of your face and keep you from overheating!
To sparkle or to shine; that is the question. Two major holiday makeup trends are sparkly eyes or high-shine red lipstick. Super adorbs, but not together. So which one do you go with? If you’re wearing lace, definitely go with red lips. If you’re wearing sequins, try a little sparkle. LBD no sparkle? Take your pick (but probably go with glittery eyes!). You can achieve some sparkle with a great liquid eyeliner – try Urban Decay Heavy Metal – or cake on a glitter eye shadow for a more dramatic effect. Stila and MAC have some ideal products. Remember to press the shadow onto your eyelid instead of brushing it – that way the glitter will adhere more effectively. For a shiny red lip, look to tarte’s glamazon in fierce for a long-lasting luster.
To keep your makeup fresh, use a makeup setting spray before heading out. Urban Decay makes a great one; they also offer an oil control formula. Once you’re out, if you find yourself getting shiny, reach for an oil blotting sheet to bring your skin back under control. Boscia makes a variety, so take your pick!
Finally, DRINK WATER!! Start now to get hydrated before the night out. Nothing improves your complexion like being properly hydrated. You can try to fake it with Evian Mineral Water Spray, but nothing beats a huge glass of water…or 8…daily.
Happy New Years, loves! xx
