It’s True, CVS Pharmacy is a Secret Skincare Haven.
So, you guys already know that I have a little obsession with skincare. Proper skincare is really important not only for avoiding rashes and skin irritations, but also for keeping your skin looking youthful and wrinkle-free for as long as humanely possible. For this post, I’ve partnered with CVS Pharmacy to show you my favorite skincare and sun care products! I was inspired by my recent trip to St. Thomas.
Now that I’m in my mid-twenties, I am trying to use skin-care products that specifically address anti-aging prevention, a large part of which involves choosing products that incorporate SPF that protects my skin from the sun. Sunlight damages collagen fibers and elastin, which are two proteins in your skin that maintain the youthful look you love. UV radiation triggers a process by which enzymes produced in response to elastin damage lead to solar scars and an excess number of free radicals in the skin, ultimately resulting in the formation of wrinkles. What prevents UV damage you ask? Sunscreen.
A recent study revealed that a lot of products with SPF that claimed to protect against sun damage actually don’t work. After I read that, I switched both my regular moisturizer and sunscreen to pricier, but higher-quality products. I tend to spend more money on skincare than on any other beauty-related products I own because there are a lot of cheaper, crappy products out there that do NOT work and I am willing to pay a premium for a pricier, but better-quality product that is guaranteed to protect my skin. I ultimately ended up loving La Roche-Posay’s products, but the only problem was that, until recently, I had to order them online. They weren’t in my local drugstore, and so I periodically ended up with my face being dry and devoid of sun protection for a couple days while I waited for my new product to arrive in the mail after my old run ran out (I’m not good at planning ahead).
So the first time I noticed CVS’s Healthy Skincare Center I was THRILLED, because right in the center shelf was my favorite Moisturizer by La Roche-Posay!!!! Upon further inspection, I was pleasantly surprised to find that CVS had majorly expanded its ‘luxury’ skincare product selection. For skin-care princesses like me, this is excellent news. Now I can run over to my 24-hour CVS at 3 am to buy chocolate milk AND La Roche-Posay moisturizer. What more could a girl ask for?
Upon my discovery of the unicorn-fantasy-land that is a luxury skincare center in my local CVS, I decided to invest in some more products, including sunscreen, as I was about to go to a very warm place with lots of sun (St. Thomas)! CVS regularly launches new beauty and skincare products by brands like La Roche-Posay, and because of this friendly article reminding me that my previous sunscreen-which-shall-not-be-named is basically a useless sloppy cream that I lathered on myself for no particular reason, I went to CVS to scout out a high-quality SPF that actually works. I ended up with a La Roche-Posay sunscreen (surprise, surprise!)—it’s a spray SPF which I’m particularly pleased about because I prefer those to creams. Again, it’s pricey—but for me—totally worth it. That St. Thomas sun ain’t got nothin’ on me.
And, so, armed and ready with my handy duo of age-fighting skincare investments, my time in St. Thomas proved to be ALL fun and games, and absolutely NO worries of early-onset wrinkles.
