Texture: The Gift that Keeps on Giving

I admittedly have a pretty short attention span. I rarely buy magazines anymore because I feel like the articles I actually want to read are few and far between, and I also have a pretty eclectic taste when it comes to my reading choices (I can switch quickly from an article on the latest “superfood” to an article about Elon Musk). Also, who reads paper magazines these days? Any kind of information I digest comes from the phone or computer–it’s just easier, simpler, lighter and faster.

I basically realized that I need something like Pinterest, but for magazine articles; someplace I can have access to hundreds of different kinds of articles from different magazines that I would actually want to read–without paying for separate subscriptions to all of them. I want to be a be able to save these articles and pictures for later (when I actually want to cook up that amazing vegetarian dish or argue with my dad about the drug trade’s entwinement with global terrorism).

And as if my prayers had been answered, along comes Texture. Texture is Pinterest for magazines. Like, literally every single kind of magazine I want is on this app. I select my favorites (The New Yorker, Interview, Cosmopolitan, New York Magazine, National Geographic (I know, I’m a dork), Nylon, Self, Time…the list goes on). I actually discovered magazines that I’ve never heard of and now am an avid fan of (Vegetarian Times, Entrepreneur). I can even read old issues of magazines, download and save them. And the app lets me store articles in “collections” (Recipes, ideas, DIY, Read Later), and lets me download things to read offline (I told you it’s like Pinterest!).

My eclectic taste can be seen in my list of favorites…

Oh, and I can SEARCH things. Like if I want to find a specific article but don’t want to look through a bajillion articles in hundreds of magazines to find it, I just search it. I also love that it provides top stories (even from magazines you don’t choose for your library), so you’re constantly stumbling on new things you didn’t even know you would end up liking!

It’s weird, I never knew how much I needed Texture in my life until I had it. Now I honestly don’t know what I would do without it…because I know I am not about to go out and buy all these magazines every single month.

Texture is the gift that keeps on giving, and that’s why it is one of my TOP recommendations for gifts this holiday season, especially because it’s so affordable for what it gives you. The basic package is $9.99 (the same I pay for Spotify, which, now that I think about it…Texture is ALSO like the Spotify of magazines) and if you are a procrastinator like me, you’ll love that all it takes is a couple clicks to send it off as a present to your special someone. They also have some great deals going on if you sign up for packages, so be sure to check them out!

Stay tuned for my upcoming top gifts list for the 2015 holiday season. It’s almost here!
